All of our Dogs are members of our family. Each one sleeps in the house, and many sleep in our bedroom with us. On fair-weather days, they play out in our large back yard. When we babysit for friends'/clients' dogs, they, too, play outside with everyone.
Duke was an absolute sweetheart; he was quiet, submissive, unthreatening, and had a wonderful sense of humour. Not only was he the consumate stud, having sired many, many litters, he was also very sweet and gentlemanly about it, making him the perfect mate for any girl! We are profoundly sad at his passing; he was the foundation of our breeding programme. He will be missed very much, but we'll never stop loving him.
We are heartbroken by the tragic accident that took our sweet, gentle Rex away from us. Rex was an 11-year-old Chihuahua. We purchased him in 2011 from a breeder in Surrey. Rex was a total doll, whose only job in the house was being a lap dog, and he did it very well!! He was quiet, sweet, loving, and very easy-going. Our laps will not be the same.
Fergus is a 2-year-old, pure-bred, registered Golden Retriever who belongs to a good friend of mine. He is her fourth breeding male. While we don't own him ourselves, we consider him part of the family, as he is Penny's son, and his owner and I have been close friends for over 30 years. Fergus is a sweet, quiet, laid-back boy who has already sired many litters this early in his career. Fergus is OFA hip and elbow certified.
After 12 years, we are absolutely heart-broken to have to say goodbye to our beloved Milo. He was from our very first litter ever, and has been an amazing member of the pack and our family. He helped raise so many of our younger pack members, helped make visiting dogs feel welcome, and was an anchor in our house. There will never be another like him.
It is with great sadness that we had to have Indy, our senior pack member, put down. At almost 11-years-old, he ended up with cancer. He was our first Golden and sold us on the breed. Indy was a wonderful, gentle, sweet boy who, later in life, loved to just lay around the house. He helped raise many of our new pack members, and was a great companion to any of our boarders. The house, the farm, and our pack will not be the same without him. He was my heart dog, and will be missed for a long time to come.
After the loss of her life-long companion, Rex, Ruby, our other 11-year-old Chihuahua, gave up and allowed herself to succumb to her many health issues. We purchased her in 2011 from the same breeder in Surrey that Rex came from. Ruby was only 2 lbs, but definitely thought she was the biggest dog in our pack; she had a larger-than-life personality. Her presence in our pack is greatly missed.
Khaleesi (which is Dothraki for "Queen" - for those of you who are Game of Thrones fans) is a Golden Doodle from our May 2013 litter, and by far the pick of the litter!!! She is sweet, quiet, and absolutely gorgeous!!!!! She has been an amazing addition to our pack, our family and our home.
At 17 years old, our cat Bear died of kidney failure. He was a wonderful cat who acted like a 2-year-old until he was 16, when finally his age caught up with him. As Mike has always had allergies to cats, Bear was his first, and hopefully not his last. We loved him very much; the house will not be the same without him.
Dottie is a beautiful 9-year-old Piball Silver Dapple (black, white, blue and tan, with blue eyes) Mini Dachshund. Dottie is awesome: she's playful, funny, loving, and cuddly. Her favourite thing to do is crawl under the covers in our bed and sleep against our legs. Dottie gave us 3 beautiful litters, but after a scary delivery with the third litter, we decided not to breed her any more. Now Dottie will live out her days as the princess of the manor.
Sassy was our 25 year-old, registered, Thoroughbred mare. We had her 19 years, and had done just about everything with her: driving, some jumping, and hundreds of miles of trail riding. She also gave us a beautiful filly that now lives on Vancouver Island. After a long and wonderful career as Dianne's saddle horse, Sassy was retired in 2013 to live out her days as a lady of leisure, and one of our favourite lawn ornaments. We are heartbroken to have lost her, as she was such a fixture in our lives and in our family. We love you Sassy, and will miss you terribly!
After a fabulous, long career, Sterling, our pure-bred poodle, and the son of Duke, was lost to cancer. While it saddens us to no longer have him as our main stud, he was so amazing for so many years; he did us, his Dad, and his dad's legacy, proud. Sterling was an amazing boy: quiet, well mannered, very smart, and wonderfully loving. He had a fabulous life with us, and an incredible career, almost eclipsing his Dad as a stud. The pack will never be the same.
Penny is one of the best dogs we've ever had. She produced amazing litters, with fabulous puppies, which have grown into spectacular dogs. As we don't over breed, it was time to retire our beautiful Penny. But as her fabulousness needs to be out in the world, she is in the process of becoming a St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog. We are very excited for this new chapter in her life. This will be a wonderful retirement job for a wonderful girl. We are so proud of you, Penny!!!!
Bala is a wonderful, gorgeous, pure-bred, CKC registered Golden Retriever. She is playful, funny, and very sweet. She is out of one of our 2023 litters. We are really pleased to have her as a member of our pack, and are lookng forward to great things from her.
Magnus is a purebred, unregistered Mini Dachshund who we kept from Dottie's final litter in the summer of 2018. Magnus is a spectacular boy - he's loving, quiet, sweet, playful and cuddly. He's black and gray dapple like his mom, with tan highlights, and his coat is an unusual combination of long-short-haired and short-long-haired. Magnus is an amazing stud, having sired many litters, and all his pups take his spectacular, sweet personality.
At 15, Daisy fell in the snow and ice, was not able to get up due to injury, and we lost her. She was really curios, super friendly, and very outgoing. We were so lucky to have such a wonderful llama in our herd - we will miss her very much!
It is with great sadness that we have lost Willow after being a part of our family for 12 years. She was a fixture in our barn, and after the loss of Daisy, she was our senior llama. We will miss her very much!
Tilly, a pure-bred Mini Dachshund, is our newest pack member. We got her late 2020 from the Chilliwack family who has Magnus' father. She is so playful, funny, smart and cuddly; she already has the lap thing figured out. We are so thrilled to have Tilly in our family and our lives.
Scarlet is a pure-bred, CKC registered Golden Retriever girl, from one of our favourite breeders in Langley. We are so thrilled to have another puppy from Midas Golden Retrievers join our humble kennel and breeding programme. We have high hopes for our newest addition.
Gucci, a pure-bred Mini Dachshund, is our newest doxie pack member. She is Tilly's sister and litter mate, and best friend to all in our pack. We took her when we found out she needed re-homing, and are so happy we did. She's so playful, funny, and loves cuddles. We are really happy to have her as a member of the house.
Windsor is a pure-bred, CKC registered Moyen Poodle boy. Moyen is French for "medium". He shouldn't be more than 35 lbs, which means he'll produce smaller babies. We got him from a breeder in Chilliwack. Windsor is a sweet, good natured boy who gets along with everyone. He and Camina are best friends, and play together all day long. We are so happy to have Windsor as our latest stud, and can't wait to see what he makes.
Gonzo is the first house cat we've had in over 10 years, and he was worth the wait! He was born in our barn spring 2022, and was hand raised by Kyle. Gonzo is hilarious! - he tears around the house, turns everything he finds into a toy, and is the best interactive chew toy we ever got the Doxies. And as he was literally raised with our Doxies, he thinks he's a dog. We don't remember life without our beautiful, Ginger boy.
Cassidy left us at 23-years-old; we had him almost 20 years. He was a wonderful boy - funny, inquisitive, smart and eager to please. He was broke to drive many years ago and was an AMAZING driving horse. Not only was he well trained to drive, but he loved doing it, so he had as much fun driving as we did driving him. He was our biggest horse, in the smallest body. We loved Cassidy very much, and miss him every day.
Gustaf (Gusgus) is our newest family member. He's a Munchkin kitten we got from a fabulous breeder in Edmonton. And as he's a Munchkin, which is a small breed, and he was the smallest in the litter, he'll stay kitten-like his whole life. He's the sweetest, cutest, most affectionate cat we've had in years. We all agree our family wasn't complete until Gusgus joined it.
Nixie is a wonderful, gorgeous, pure-bred, unregistered Golden Retriever. She is energetic, funny, sweet, and always has to carry something in her mouth. She is out of one of our 2023 litters. As Penny's last daughter, we are really looking forward to seeing the amazing puppies she'll produce.
Athena is a gorgeous, pure-bred, CKC registered Golden Retriever. She is energetic, funny, and loves to cuddle. She is a cousin of Bala's, out of one of our 2023 litters. While she is being fostered with friends of ours, we see her very often, so she is still a member of the family, and is loved like she lives her full time.
